Diathermy – Skin Tag Removal

Treatment available at West Lakes, Adelaide clinic only.

With prices starting from just $70, Diathermy is an excellent treatment that is used for removal of skin tags, capillaries and stubborn milia on all areas of the body.

Most commonly we treat areas such as the surrounding eyes, face, neck, décolletage, underarms, and groin as well as under the breasts.

Diathermy is straight thermolysis, in other words heat which cauterizes the skin, and used to burn off harmless non-malignant imperfections. Heat is delivered through an extremely fine filament (needle) directly onto the area of concern, immediately dissolving the skin tag, milia or cauterizing blood flow to a stubborn broken capillary.

Diathermy removes all sorts of benign imperfections without compromising the skins integrity. In saying this, Diathermy is not recommended for the removal of moles. We offer personalised packages and benefits to you as a valued client.

A skin tag is an extra piece of skin that forms due to hormonal changes and/or constant rubbing of clothing, jewelry or glasses on the skin.

Some skin types are pre-disposed to skin tags. They appear as small flesh colored pieces of skin. Skin tags can vary in colour and size, and are often fed by a small blood vessel.

Milia are small white hard lumps that form under the skin. Usually they surface due to an excess production of sebum or cholesterol (fatty) secretion from the skin. Diathermy effectively treats stubborn milia that are deep in the tissue.
Diathermy is a simple process that is quick and effective with minimal to no discomfort. Most patients complete treatment between 15 to 30 mins.

As diathermy is non-invasive with minimal side effects, the treatment may be performed whilst pregnant.

The area can be hot for a couple of hours post treatment, and sometimes a small crust will appear at the site of skin tag removal.

This crust will fall off in a few days. It is important to maintain good personal hygiene and keep the area clean.

Antiseptic cream can be applied to cool the skin and aid repair. It is important not to pick, scratch or aggravate the area.

If a scab is picked off, it can leave scarring. Darker skin types can have a slight scar, this generally blends in with the skin over several weeks.

The tissue in the area usually heals without leaving visible signs of treatment and the imperfection will be removed.
