Frequently Asked Questions

How do dermal fillers work?

Facial Wrinkles
Many facial wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to form facial expressions. With age, the skin loses it’s bounce factor and the wrinkles that used to spring back into position decide to become “static”.

This process occurs because natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease with age. This together combined with factors such as; smoking, excessive sun exposure and stress can contribute to the increase in wrinkles and folds, causing  the skin to appear more aged over time.

Unlike anti-wrinkle injections that treat wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause the wrinkled appearance, dermal fillers are placed below the skin’s surface to “fill in” or “plump up” the static facial wrinkles and folds that are present. Dermal fillers are able to diminish the depth of wrinkles and create a natural and more refreshed facial appearance.

Lips
Lips progressively thinner as the body ages. Over time the corners of the mouth can begin to droop (mouth frown), the v-shaped area of the upper lip known as the Cupid's Bow begins to flatten out and the lips lose their youthful fullness. Vertical lip lines can also begin to appear, causing lipstick to bleed.

By treating the border of the upper and/or lower lip, dermal fillers treatments enhance lip contour and definition. Lip volume is increased and the overall "plump" pout look should last for at least 6 months.

Are dermal fillers treatments safe?

Doctors have been performing an array of cosmetic injectable treatments such as dermal fillers in Australia for years.

We offer a wide variety of dermal fillers, each suited to different applications. Alternate dermal filler options will be advised during your personal consultation.

Our experienced Cosmetic Doctor and Registered Nurse only perform all dermal fillers treatments, ensuring your safety is the utmost importance.

Why do I need a consultation?

Consultations are conducted with clients before the treatment to:
• Assess if the dermal fillers treatment is appropriate for you
• Explain the dermal fillers treatment process
• Advise pre and post treatment care instructions
• Advise the cost of treatment

Are Chemical Peel treatments painful?

Tolerance levels vary for all. In most cases clients will say that they felt no pain or a slight tingle sensation that was minimal and tolerable.

Are there any post treatment restrictions?

Our team will advise you post treatment care instructions during your treatment. In most cases, you will be able to resume with your normal activities immediately, with minimal redness or numbness.
Some clients may experience tenderness and bruising post treatment. In rare cases you may experience headache, nausea or temporary eyelid droop.

Clients may experience injection site redness, pain, firmness/hardness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching or discolouration.  If you experience any of these side effects, your Doctor will advise any necessary steps to take.

Are the results of dermal fillers treatments permanent?

The effect of dermal fillers treatments can last between approx. 6 - 18 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeated dermal fillers treatments, the effects tend to last longer.

How do I know if chemical peel treatments are working for me?

Facial Wrinkles
You will see lines gradually smooth approximately 2 weeks post treatment.

Lips
You will notice a plumped lips immediately.

How many treatments will I need?

One (1) treatment may be required and if agreed by your Doctor follow up treatments may be booked.

How do I know when to come in for my next treatment?

Facial Wrinkles
Dermal fillers treatments do not cause more wrinkles to form. If you choose not to have any further dermal fillers treatments, your muscles will eventually return to normal activity and your wrinkles will gradually revert to their pre-treatment levels.

Lips
Your "plump" lips will eventually return to pre-treatment levels once the product is metabolised.

How will I look in between treatments?

Your skin should be smooth and appear to look more youthful. Your lips should appear larger and a defined "pout" should be visible.

Are there risks or side effects?

Dermal fillers treatments should cause minimal discomfort. If side effects are experienced they are generally temporary injection site-related effects, which should last 3 days or less.

Clients may experience injection site redness, pain, firmness/hardness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching or discolouration, drooping eyelids, skin tightness, tingling sensations and/or nausea.

Will my medication affect my treatment?

Medication may affect your treatment procedure and "filled" in and/or "plumped" up results. Please advise your Doctor prior to treatment of any medications you are taking. We do not recommend treating women who are pregnant.
