IPL emits a light energy that specifically targets and is
absorbed by dilated blood vessels. This process allows the
light to travel to the vascular structures of the skin, causing
the blood to clot within the vessels and then be destroyed
and absorbed by the skin.
IPL will improve and reduce the redness and flushing appearance
of the skin. Treatments will be required occasionally after
the initial treatment course is completed, as rosacea is a
skin condition that requires maintenance.
IPL also stimulates natural collagen and
elastin production in the active skin cells (fibroblasts),
improving the skin’s overall texture and complexion.
Skin rejuvenation treatments overall improve the skin’s
colour and texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and minimises
open pores.

premium technologies?
Why
do I need a consultation?
Consultations are conducted with clients before the treatment
to:
• Assess if the IPL treatment is appropriate for you
• Explain the skin rejuvenation process
• Advise pre and post treatment care instructions
• Perform a test patch This will allow you to feel the
IPL on your skin and see the results for yourself.
• Advise the cost of treatment
Are IPL treatments painful?
Tolerance levels vary for all. In most cases
clients will say that they felt no pain or a slight sensation
that was minimal and tolerable.
Topical anaesthetic creams are not required,
however available for individuals who wish to numb the skin
pre treatment.
How
should I prepare before for my treatment?
To minimise the possibility of adverse skin
effects we recommend avoiding the following activities for
at least 2 to 4 weeks prior to your treatment:
• Sun exposure (apply SPF 30 + sunscreen
daily)
• Solariums
• Topical fake tans
• Prescription strength exfoliants
Are there any post treatment restrictions?
Your Skin and Laser Specialist will advise
you post treatment care instructions during your treatment.
In most cases, once the redness has calmed down you are able
to resume with your normal activities. It is best to treat
the area with care as you would a mild sunburn.
Please avoid the following activities until
the redness has calmed down:
• Use of prescription strength exfoliant creams
• Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/ chlorine
• Activities that cause excessive perspiration
Please avoid the following activities in
between and post treatments:
• Sun exposure (apply SPF 30 + sunscreen daily on areas
being treated)
• Solariums (cover all areas being treated)
Is
IPL skin rejuvenation and vascular lesion reduction permanent?
When qualified and highly trained Skin and Laser Specialists
perform treatments such as the team at The Laser Lounge, IPL
skin rejuvenation treatments are very effective. With skin
conditions such as rosacea and broken capillaries occasional
maintenance treatments may be required to keep the concern
under control. It is important to avoid excessive sun exposure
and apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily during and post treatments.
Our scientifically advanced Medicalia skin
care offers a range of products suitable for these skin conditions,
complementing overall skin rejuvenation treatments.
How
do I know if IPL skin rejuvenation treatments are working
for me?
You will see real results during your treatment course. Your
skin will initially look red and flushed for a couple of days
post treatment and then shortly after the redness will start
to minimise. The results will become more impressive with
each successive treatment. Your skin’s overall texture
and complexion will also improve throughout the treatments.
Your Skin and Laser Specialist will also
advise some additional tips for you to control the redness
during and after your treatment. It’s important to keep
in mind that rosacea is a condition which needs to be kept
in control both inside and out.
Our clients are continually experiencing
great results and value for money at The Laser Lounge!
How
many treatments will I need?
For best results, on average we recommend
completing 4 to 6 treatments. As the condition of skin and
individual expectations will differ the number of treatments
required may vary. During your consultation your Skin and
Laser Specialist will discuss a personalised treatment plan
for you.
Maintenance treatments may be recommended
to be performed on the area for some clients based on the
skin’s colour, condition and personal lifestyle.
How
do I know when to come in for my next treatment?
On average we recommend treating the area 10 to 14 days apart.
Your Skin and Laser Specialist will assess your individual
progress throughout your treatment course, recommending the
best time to return for your follow up treatment. If you are
uncertain, please feel free to ask our team.
How
will I look in between the treatments?
Post
treatment the skin may be slightly swollen and/or red. This
is very normal and will disappear shortly after. Some broken
capillaries may disappear where as others may become more
prominent initially and then eventually will dissolve into
the skin during the treatment course.
Your skin’s overall texture and complexion
will also improve throughout the treatments.
Are
there any risks or side effects?
Immediately
following an IPL skin rejuvenation treatment, clients may
experience either slightly reddened or goose bump like skin.
It feels somewhat like a mild sunburn. This effect is very
normal and will disappear shortly after. Damage to the skin
is very rare and only in some few cases, clients may experience
pigment change in the skin. If this occurs, the skin will
typically return to normal over time. In saying this, our
Skin and Laser Specialist team are experienced and are here
to ensure you experience a satisfying treatment.
Will
my medication affect my treatment?
Certain medications may affect your IPL skin rejuvenation
treatment if they are photosensitive (such as Roaccutane and
Retin A which can cause pigmentation). If you are taking any
medications it is best to advise your Skin and Laser Specialist
so that we can ensure the best possible treatment results
for you. Depending on the medication course, we may suggest
performing treatments at least 2 to 6 months after taken.
