Rosacea:
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition usually present on the face, neck, chest, scalp, ears and/or forehead causing the skin to appear red in colour. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent, and visible blood vessels may appear. Rosacea can often come and go at various stages of one’s life. Rosacea affects both sexes, but is almost three times more common in women between the ages of 30 years and 60 years.
Triggers that can cause rosacea episodes (flushing and blushing) may include;
- Exposure to temperature extremes
- Strenuous exercise
- Heat from sunlight
- Severe sunburn
- Stress and anxiety
- Cold wind
- Moving to a warm or hot environment from a cold one
- Alcohol
- Food and beverages containing caffeine (especially hot tea and coffee)
- Spicy food
- Foods high in histamine (red wine, aged cheeses, yogurt, beer, cured pork products such as bacon, etc.)
- Acne and wrinkle treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels
- Topical or nasal steroids

Testimonial
I used to have really red skin and was very embarrassed to walk outside the house without makeup. I have only had two IPL treatments to date on my face and I can already see the difference. My skin feels fresh and has all cleared up. I now walk out the door without any makeup on the weekend and wear minimal make up during the week at work whilst looking people in the eyes. I’m so happy to see no more redness.
