Open Pores:
What are Open pores?
Open pores are the tiny holes found on the surface of the skin that hair emerges through. Along with housing a hair follicle, pores have a sebaceous gland, and are the route for sebum, which is the skin’s natural oil. Depending on the cleanliness of the follicle and the width of your hair strands, these holes, also known as pores, can appear more open, or enlarged. Genetic hair and skin development contributes mainly to the size of pores on your face and despite popular belief pores are unable to grow larger than what is inherited. However, once pores become unclogged, the extent to which they appear open becomes more obvious. For example, activities like sauna bathing and using a steam room are often linked to enhancing open pores (not necessarily the case though). If open pores do however become clogged by excessive oil production, dead skin cells, bacterial infection or dirt, the swelling associated with acne may temporarily leave you with an enlarged pore once the clogging agents are removed.
