Laser hair removal is effective, safe and a permanent solution to unwanted hair. Our qualified Laser Hair Removal Technicians offer you a reliable alternative to shaving and waxing, saving you ample time and money on beauty maintenance.
With the most advanced premium laser technology (Excel HR, Alexandrite and Nd:YAG) recommended by renowned Dermatologists worldwide we can successfully treat all skin types comfortably.
Permanent hair removal is an extremely simple procedure which will stunt and reduce hair growth within the hair follicle. As this procedure stops future hair growth it is a long-term solution for people who are seeking smooth, hair-free skin in a particular area.
The medical-grade lasers penetrate the hair follicle, which disables both the blood supply and root that usually aids hair regeneration. It’s important to note that this treatment will not affect the surrounding area. As the hair follicles contain melanin (the element that makes hair coloured), our lasers are able to safely target them only. Our equipment features a patented cooling device which ensures a safe, comfortable experience for our clients.
There are several different types of lasers used to reduce unwanted hair. The most common types are; Cutera Excel HR, IPL laser, Alexandrite laser, Yag laser and Diode laser. At The Laser Lounge, we will select a medical grade laser apparatus that best suits you, your skin, your hair colour and lifestyle enabling us to achieve optimal results.
The Excel HR™ is the most advanced laser technology which can effectively treat all skin types safely and more comfortably. The Excel HR redefines laser hair removal offering both Nd:YAG and Alexandrite laser settings with the superiority of sapphire contact cooling – you won’t even feel the zap it’s that cool.
We recommend our Alexandrite lasers for lighter skin/darker hair clients to achieve laser hair removal results. The Alexandrite’s laser light pulse, targets the hair follicle causing the hair to fall out and minimises further growth. This laser is ineffective for light coloured hair, but effective for treating dark hair in patients of Fitzpatrick types I to III. This laser can easily differentiate between hair and skin colour. It is when the skin and hair colour are almost the same that complications may occur. We do not recommend using the Alexandrite if you have tanned or dark skin.
The Nd Yag laser is best used for treating clients who have tanned/darker hair and darker skin, along with spider veins. In saying this, we do not recommend having a laser hair removal treatment if you’re freshly tanned. Our Laser Technicians will advise whether you’re suitable to be treated post tanning. As a duty of care, if we feel you are not suitable to be treated we will not perform laser treatment and will reschedule when it is safe. This laser works differently to an Alexandrite and has been designed to minimize any risks to the skin, and to specifically differentiate between dark skin and dark hair colour.
To clarify, IPL laser devices are not actually lasers. In comparison to a laser, Intense Pulse Light is NOT monochromatic, meaning that IPL has many different colours and only a small percentage of these colours are effective in the treatment of hair reduction. Compared to laser hair removal technology, IPL is less effective in the treatment of hair reduction and is used to treat certain skin conditions.
The Diode laser is used for light to olive skin clients, and targets the pigment located in the hair follicle and shaft. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and this energy is converted to heat resulting in damage to the hair follicle. This damage causes delayed re-growth of hair and in most cases, permanent destruction of the hair follicles. The Diode laser is mainly used for skin types I – III, but it can also be used for other skin types.
In order to give you the best, honest advice we offer all clients a complimentary consultation. This personalised approach allows our team to analyse factors such as your skin condition, hair colour, hair thickness, amount of hair and medical history. This consultation will allow your therapist to create a tailored treatment plan, and advise you if and what area/s are suitable for laser hair reduction treatments.
All services are administered by a qualified, highly experienced Laser Technician who holds a Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Certificate, as is mandatory to perform treatments and operate laser machinery.
Laser hair removal involves minimal to no pain. It is far less painful than waxing and some describe it as a slight ‘zap’ sensation. At the Laser Lounge, we offer the most advanced laser hair removal technology with contact sapphire cooling, making treatments pain-free and comfortable.
If you have a low pain threshold let your Laser Technician know as we have experienced tips we can share with you to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible during treatment. Numbing cream can be applied if requested.
Treatment intervals vary depending on the treated area due to cycle of hair growth. Clinical guidelines recommend 4 to 6 weeks for facial areas, 6 to 8 weeks for upper body and 8 to 10 for lower body. Receiving treatments sooner than required will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment as the hair cycle will not be in the correct stage. In these cases, the results will be comparative to waxing or shaving.
At the Laser Lounge, we have found due to our laser hair reduction personalised approach, our treatments are completed on average between 6 to 12 weeks apart on major body areas.
The larger the area, the longer it will take to complete the treatment. At the Laser Lounge, we pride ourselves on being thorough to ensure accuracy. Clinical guidelines recommend approximately 15 to 20 minutes for a thorough Brazilian/Underarm treatment and about 45 to 60 minutes for major areas such as Full Legs.
Laser hair reduction has not been proven to be safe/unsafe during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. To date, no clinical studies have been conducted on the subject and as a result the Laser Lounge do not treat clients that are pregnant and/or breast feeding. As a duty of care to our clients, we only treat clients based on manufacturer and clinical guidelines.
Although laser hair reduction treatments only penetrate deep enough to target the root of hair follicles, side effects for the mother and/or unborn child have not been studied. If you become pregnant during a course of treatments at the Laser Lounge please advise your clinic and they will advise you the best steps to take. As part of best practice, client accounts will be placed on hold until they are recommended to return to their treatments.
Your Laser Technician will shave the area if needed (we recommend doing before treatment) and will then grid the area ready for treatment. You may also receive cooling options pre and during treatment. After your treatment your Technician will apply a post laser relief spray to help soothe the area.
The Laser Lounge only employs the use of medical grade, industry-leading technologies. All equipment is FDA and TGA approved.
All services are administered by a qualified, highly experienced laser technician. Our team of experts ensure each client receives a friendly, first-class experience during each visit. We pride ourselves on being one of few affordable, competitively priced, qualified clinics in the country. Permanent hair removal is our specialty. Why would you trust anyone else?
The amount of treatments required will vary from person to person. For the best results, we typically recommend 8 to 10 treatments depending on the area, this will ensure that all hairs are effectively interrupted and immobilised during the active growth phase of the growth cycle.
Clients often notice quicker results on some areas such as the legs, bikini, underarms, chest, and upper arms. Areas such as the back or face may require further treatments.
Once a course of treatments has been completed, we often recommend maintenance treatments to be administered 1 to 3 times per year.
Your experienced Laser Technician will give you all the pre + post care instructions and can answer any questions you have about caring for the area following treatment.
We advise treating the area with the same level of care you would a mild sunburn. Typically, once any redness has subsided, you will be free to resume standard activities. We recommend purchasing one of our Post Care Packs to help reduce any redness and discomfort.
