Sylvia Tracey… The Laser Lounge’s newest ‘Fairy Godmother’ and resident RN!
Introducing our newest & very talented “Fairy Godmother”, Registered Nurse Sylvia Tracey! With over 2 decades of Nursing experience, and a Masters in Nursing Education, Sylvia is now our RESIDENT Laser Lounge RN and will be performing an array of professional & experienced cosmetic injectable / medical aesthetic treatments across all 5 of our sister clinics! In order for our clients to get to know Sylvia better, we sat down with her for an insightful QnA!
Tell us a bit about your background in the medical industry profession.
I am an Operating Theatre Nurse with about 20 years experience working in all specialities including Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery.
What inspired you to specialise in cosmetic enhancement treatments?
As you know many Cosmetic surgeons use the adjunct treatments to help with their patients skin before and after surgery. Getting invovled in this made me realise how I personally like to help make a difference to the patients. The hands on treatments allow time for quality time with clients whereas in a busy hospital this is often not the case. When they are over the moon with the results naturally this gives me a real buzz too.
Where did you study and what are your tertiary qualifications in terms of cosmetic injectables and non-surgical cosmetic enhancements?
I studied Nursing in Oxford, England and did my Master’s Degree in Sydney. I also studied with Allergan and Galderma at extensive and advanced training workshops. My IPL, Laser and other treatment qualifications came from Fuss Beauty College, also in Sydney.
When do you believe a person should consider cosmetic enhancements?
I think it is a very personal thing as some clients are very happy with the skin they are in and others who wish to start young to prevent most wrinkles ever forming. However, I have treated clients from late 20′s to late 60′s. Some people have more animated expressions and tend to form more dynamic lines and its surprisingly common for many to have their frown done so that they simply don’t look cross to their family and colleagues.
Is it ok for someone other than a doctor to do injectables?
By Law every patient must be treated by a Cosmetic Dr or a Cosmetic Registered Nurse. The anti-wrinkle injections and the Dermal Fillers are a prescription product. No other therapists can legally treat a patient with injectable products.
What are 3 of your best tips for looking and feeling younger?
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Seriously, prevention of sun damage is number 1 – the sun causes so many skin conditions that leave us looking older and tired. Number 2 is taking care of your skin with a good skin care regime and preventitive treatments. Number 3 is diet and hydration. Drinking plenty of water helps the fillers last longer!
What are you excited to bring to The Laser Lounge?
As well as having consistencey for the patients as I will be available every week for injectables, we will be introducing more medical treatments such as PRP treatments (Kim Kardashian’s Vampire Face Lift), Microsclerotherapy for thread/spider veins and Mesotherapy for reduction of stubborn pockets of fat. I am very excited to be working alongside an extremely caring and ethical team who sincerely want the best for their clients as do I. A match made in heaven.

Another fun and educational week of AACDS training!
The Laser Lounge is pleased to announce that we have successfully hosted another fun and educational week of NSW Practical Student Dermal Training with the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science! Bita Beyzaee, Co-founder and Head of Client Services at The Laser Lounge, facilitated the training at our National Training Centre located in Castle Hill.
Our two students, Masumeh and Marlena, were able to perform a wide range of clinical treatments including Clinical Microdermabrasion, Clinical Skin Needling, Glycolic/Lactic Peels, Jessner/TCA Peels, IPL Skin Rejuvenation and IPL Hair Reduction. Our QnA with Bodybuilder… Arash Samali!
The Laser Lounge are extremely excited to be the proud sponsors of Brisbane based Personal Trainer and Bodybuilder, Arash Samali! Arash is a lifetime natural bodybuilder, who has been competing since 1999 and in this time has competed in 18 bodybuilding competitions, with a total of 16 podium finishes. With 6 championship titles under his belt, including 2 overall wins, Arash is an absolute inspiration when it comes to health, fitness and hard work! On top of these fantastic achievements, Arash also runs a Personal Training business which he established in 2002, specialising in contest preparation and physique enhancement, weight loss and nutritional planning, injury rehabilitation as well as training mature age and elderly clients.
Having to be competition ready all year round means Arash has to be on top of his ‘beauty regime’! This means hair removal, tanning and of course healthy and radiant skin (but we say all men should be on top of this no matter what your profession!) Where else would Arash look, but to the trusty and qualified team at The Laser Lounge! We sat down with Arash for an insightful QnA regarding his lifestyle on the training scene as well as his plans and preparations for his next big competition.
How and when did you start training and bodybuilding?
I initially started weight training in 1996 that is a bodybuilding style of splits, sets and rep range. Previous to that, I had probably done some form of strength training for playing Basketball, this was predominantly leg based and ballistic and plyometric sports specific training. I decided to take on bodybuilding training as a way of balancing out my physique and the challenge that came with the sport. I have always loved to prove people wrong so I guess I had to prove a point to many that I could stick to something and be one of the best in it. I actively started competing in natural bodybuilding competitions in 1999 and I have competed 18 times with 16 podium finishes and I have won 6 titles which includes 2 overall championships….so far.
What does a typical days training session consist of?
Previously in my off season phase I was training 4 times a week.
Day 1 – Back and rear delts
Day 2 – Shoulders and triceps
Rest Day
Day 3 – Chest and Bis
Day 4 – Legs.
In precontest mode and now in my off season I add a separate day which falls on my cheat day or carb refeed day where I train my upper body focusing on my weak points. As far as repetitions and sets, it all depends on the phase I am in. As I get leaner I tend to keep weight lighter and increase my volume as my joints and connective tissue seem to bear the brunt of the heavier weights. When I’m fuller, I try to increase the load progressively which usually means less reps and sets.
Who are your favourite bodybuilders, fitness models and/or athletes?
Arnold Schwarzenneger, Samir Bannout, Frank Zane, Flex wheeler and Dorian Yates.
The bodybuilding industry has certain requirements when it comes to grooming and beauty upkeep. How do you get yourself competition ready when it comes to hair removal, tanning and skin care?
Well previously I have waxed, shaved and used depilatory creams but they all have negatives to them. If I was coming up to my first show, my hair would not be long enough to wax again for my second shows, so I would have to shave anyway which doesn’t leave much time to go through the tanning process. With hair removal creams I can get irritations and ingrown hairs with all of the above methods. I am really looking forward experiencing Laser Hair Reduction treatments, so I do not have to worry about any of these issues again. With bodybuilding tanning plays a huge part of stage preparation, having a rich dark base coat can really show off all the hard earned definition that you have worked towards. With all the tanning and hair removal , I unfortunately don’t take great care of my skin but I definitely will now with the expertise and help from The Laser Lounge.
Do you think all men should be conscious of skin care? If yes, do you think men feel embarrassed to care about their appearance?
I definitely think men should, but culturally I think it isn’t really something many do as it’s not a ‘blokey’ thing to do, but in this harsh climate I think if more men were conscious of their skin care we wouldn’t have as many skin health issues.
What advice would you give to any men who were interested in embarking on a fitness and/or bodybuilding journey?
My number one advice is to actually go to a competition and watch from the crowd or if you have a friend competing help them backstage (not always recommended as you could be a hindrance). Once you have seen what it’s all about and the actual level of conditioning required to compete then get help from someone with plenty of experience who can guide you in the right direction and start of in a smaller comp and work your way up from there.

Charli Robinson raves about The Laser Lounge on SeaFM!
The Laser Lounge team were extremely excited to receive a visit from Radio Talk Show Host and TV Personality, Charli Robinson, in recent weeks. Being in the spotlight, means Charli has to keep on top of her skin care and beauty regime, so she popped into our Paddington boutique clinic to try a Skin Rejuvenation treatment by our qualified Skin and Laser Technicians!
Charli, who took to her Gold Coast radio show SeaFM, to discuss her Laser Lounge experience, had some great client insights and feedback to share… you can hear what she had to say here!
Upon her visit, Charli was surprised to see men popping in and out of the clinics, and quickly learned that a large part of The Laser Lounge clientele base is actually young men between the ages of 20 to 35. These men are not just your stereotype white collar professionals, but infact most male clients work in labouring trades and/ or in the mines and are mostly concerned with skin rejuvenation, anti-ageing and corrective skin care.

The Laser Lounge Morningside Launch Party – ‘Brisvegas’ style!
To celebrate our newest boutique clinic in Morningside, QLD, we hosted a launch party on Thursday 7th March at our beautiful new clinic located in Brisbane’s trendy inner-city suburbs! Bloggers, clients, family and friends came together to enjoy a glass of champagne, canapés and prizes whilst also having the chance to learn about our services and special opening promotions!
The night began with a Danne-Montague-King Enzyme Therapy Treatment demonstration, performed by the lovely Anna from DMK. A very excited Brisbane guest was able to experience this amazing corrective skin treatment and fellow guests were treated to an insightful, informative presentation (and boy did our guests have a lot of questions for Anna!). It was a fantastic opportunity for The Laser Lounge team to share with our guests the reason why we LOVE and swear by DMK treatments and products.
The lovely Tamara from Palomar also treated us to a presentation, discussing the latest news and technologies in laser hair reduction, focusing on the launch of Australia’s FIRST Palomar Vectus Laser in The Laser Lounge, Morningside. We have already received some fantastic feedback about the Vectus Laser, including how fast and effective treatments are. Australian Fitness Model – Sophie Guidolin
Sophie Guidolin is an outstanding Australian Fitness Model, who, with hard work and dedication, took out the 2012 INBA Sports model competition. From sunny Adelaide, being a mother of two young sons took a toll on Sophie’s body, as she gained 28 kilos throughout each pregnancy. She decided to embark on her own personal lifestyle change and made a huge turn around! Combining weight training, cardio and clean eating habits has brought Sophie to the impressive and stunning figure she has today!
Being so active in the fitness world, and having to be ‘comp-ready’ all year round, means Sophie also has to keep up with her beauty regime. Not only does Charli work extremely hard flying back and forward from Sydney and Gold Coast to record her radio spots, but she also is infront of the camera on a daily basis.
